Patient Participation Group (PPG)

 Aims of the PPG Meetings

The Patient Participation Group (PPG) aims to:

  • Provide a patient perspective to the practice
  • Offer a forum for discussing issues relevant to the practice and its patients
  • Enable patients to contribute to and influence local healthcare services

Objectives

The core objectives of the PPG are:

  • To encourage open communication between patients and the practice team, promoting active patient involvement.
  • To involve patients in reviewing, developing, and planning services within the practice, and to contribute to wider improvements in local healthcare provision.
  • To identify key areas where patient input is needed, gather feedback, and support the practice in responding effectively.

To assist in the development of patient communications, including newsletters, website content, and other informational materials

Membership

Membership of the PPG includes:

  • Patient representatives
  • General Practitioner(s)
  • Members of the practice team

All patients registered with the practice are welcome to join. The practice will aim to ensure that the group reflects the diversity of its patient population, as far as possible within a voluntary setting.

Members who have not participated in any PPG activities for over one year may be removed from the membership list.

Meetings

Meetings are held regularly, with a minimum of four meetings per year. Additional meetings may be arranged if agreed by the group.

  • Acts as a representative body to help influence local health and social care services.
  • Encourages wider patient involvement from the community.
  • Promotes better understanding and use of available healthcare services.
  • Helps improve communication between the practice and its patients.
  • Supports consultation on practice developments and service changes.
